Yuewen Fang is a tenured scientist and a principal investigator of Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) at Centro de FĂsica de Materiales (CSIC-UPV/EHU). Previously, he was a postdoc at the same center hired by the University of the Basque Country from 2021 to 2024. From April 1st, 2020, to Nov. 30th, 2021, he worked as a researcher at the Materials Structure Laboratory of Tokyo Institute of Technology. Prior to that, he worked as a program-specific researcher at Kyoto University from November 1st, 2017, to March 31st, 2020. He was also a visiting academic at New York University Shanghai from March 2017. Yuewen received his PhD in Physical Electronics from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China, in June 2017, under the supervision of Prof. Chun-Gang Duan. During his PhD, he spent eight months at the R&D center of Japan Fine Ceramics Center in Nagoya, Japan.

Yuewen's research interests include materials theory and materials discovery of thermoelectrics, superconductors, multiferroics, ferroelectrics, polar metals, complex oxide interfaces, and photovoltaic materials by combining the state-of-the-art computational materials methods with machine learning techniques. Yuewen's research work has resulted in the publication in prestigious journals such as Science, Science Advances, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and more.

Yuewen serves as a Youth Editor of the Editorial Board of 4 JCR-Q1 journals including InfoMat, Journal of Materials Informatics, Chip and Acta Metallurgica Sinica (English Letters). He is an enthusiastic reviewer with strong willingness to help authors in the community publish their research findings by providing expert comments on improving the manuscripts. Up till now, he has contributed 250+ verified peer reviews to 50 peer-reviewed journals such as Physical Review Letters and Nature sister journals.
