Yuewen Fang is a tenured scientist at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). He previously served as a principal investigator (PI) at the Centro de Física de Materiales (CFM-MPC, CSIC-UPV/EHU) and is currently a PI at the Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón (INMA), CSIC-Universidad de Zaragoza.

Before joining CSIC as a tenured scientist, he was a postdoctoral researcher at CFM-MPC, employed by the University of the Basque Country. He also worked as a researcher at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and, prior to that, as a program-specific researcher at Kyoto University. In addition, he held visiting academic positions at New York University Shanghai and the Japan Fine Ceramics Center. He received his PhD from East China Normal University in Shanghai.

Yuewen's research interests include quantum materials theory and materials discovery of thermoelectrics, superconductors, multiferroics, ferroelectrics, polar metals, complex oxide interfaces, and photovoltaic materials by combining the state-of-the-art computational materials methods with machine learning techniques. Yuewen's research work has resulted in the publication in prestigious journals such as Science, Science Advances, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and more.

Yuewen serves as an Associate Editor of Physica B: Condensed Matter, Editor of Discover Materials (Springer Nature), and a Youth Editor of the Editorial Board of 4 JCR-Q1/2 journals. In addition, he was a reviewer for nearly 70 journals and has contributed 320+ verified peer reviews to these journals such as Physical Review Letters and PNAS.
